Hello! So this is a simple run-down of what one of my friend’s team is like. It focuses on setting up for Excadrill to sweep hence the cute picture :) I try to make these as simple as I can so bear with me if I don’t explain everything in detail. Ask me questions on these teams if you’d like!
So starting off we have a wonderful, WONDERFUL lead, Ferrothorn (Relaxed) w/ Leftovers or Shed Skin depending on if you’re worried about Magnezone’s Magnet Pull (Covered Later). It will be flaunting these four moves:
- Spikes/Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Powerwhip
Now the reason I use Powerwhip over Gyro ball is the fact that a hard hitting physical grass move is hard to come by and a Steel type move will be covered by another pokemon on this team anyways. You wanna set up Spikes/Stealth Rock (really, there’s all the same >__> it just depends on your opponents). Then go Leech Seed and switch out into any safe pokemon, but if you can you want your Sand Stream Pokemon out ASAP so lets go there. For this team I like a Tyranitar (Jolly or Adamant) w/ Life Orb.
- Aqua Tail
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Fire Punch/Ice Punch
Basic type coverage, nothing really special. Keep this kiddo alive because if you are going against another weather team, you need to switch him in multiple time. Another way you could go is by taking advantage of Ferrothorn’s Leech Seed with Tyranitar (Quiet) w/ Leftovers and take:
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Crunch
- Fire Punch/Ice Punch
This way you Substitute and heal with Leech Seed and Leftovers while you’re able to Focus Punch them in the face. Next we have Swampert as a tanking wall… awkward mix..thing. Swampert (Relaxed) w/ Leftovers:
- Superpower
- Ice Punch/Ice Beam
- Earthquake
- Protect
Why I no take a water move? MIND FUCK THAT’S WHY. You’re running Aqua Tail on your Tyrani anyway remember? But really, if you want to go ahead and take a Surf or Waterfall. Why not take all physical moves? If there’s a Def heavy wall (ex. Blissey), you want to be able to hit it with Sp. Att. The reason I take Protect is because you have leftovers and they are dying in your Sandstorm. Why not waste a turn and heal yourself/damage them? Now here’s a cutie everyone loves. Mr. Wishmaker here boasts wonderful stats and can go anyway you want it to thanks to base 100 stats in everything. Since this team is slightly Attack Heavy I run it Mixed Att like Swampert. Jirachi (Bold) w/ Leftovers:
- Iron Head
- Thunderbolt
- Calm Mind
- Wish
Thanks to Serene Grace, Iron Head and Thunderbolt’s secondary effects are doubled. To run this Jirachi, Wish + Calm Mind to stall in Sandstorm and Iron Head/ Thunderbolt inbetween. Sooner or later it’ll transform from a support to a sweeper due to it’s bulky Calm Mind buffs. Keep in mind that Jirachi should be used as a support first, sweeper second. Dislike the moveset? Jirachi is very versatile and can run the elemental punches as well as become a full blown wall. Change it to your liking, I just chose this to make it balanced. Next, Magnezone puts more type coverage into your Sand Storm team. He’ll run Magnet Pull Magnezone (Timid) w/ Air Balloon:
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power Fire
- Volt Switch
This guy is who you’ll be using to protect your Tyranitar. Bulky Steel type (ex. Scizor, Metagross, Empoleon) wants to hurt him? :( SWITCH IN WITH MAGNEZONE AND HIDDEN POWER FIRE HIM. Then switch out with Volt Switch :3 The reason he holds Air Balloon is because most of the time your opponent will want to Earthquake your Tyranitar and therefor Air Balloon gives you a free switch into Magnezone. Last but not least we have our main sweeper, Excadrill! He’s awesome so I’ll jump right into his movepool. You want to run Sand Rush Excadrill (Jolly or Adamant) w/ Choice Band or Life Orb.
- Earthquake
- X-Scissor
- Brick Break
- Rock Slide
Not much to say. Just X-Scissor to take out bulky Bronzongs that can sit in your Sandstorm, and type coverage physical attacks. Sand Rush doubles his speed in Sandstorm, so don’t be afraid of your opponent’s pokemon being able to 1HKO you since Ferrothorn’s spikes/Leech Seed already took a bite out of ‘em and you have amazing Attack anyways.
Well, that’s it for this team. Suggestions or Questions? Ask box! :D
